    Kentucky State Parks - Top
    • Ben Hawes State Park - Owensboro - 270-684-9808
      - Golf is the name of the game at Ben Hawes in Owensboro Kentucky's third larest city. Choose from regulation 18 hole course or a 9 hole par 3 course. Pros & duffers will find everything they need from a well stocked pro shop and the original farmhouse is available for meeting rooms
    • Columbus - Belmont State Park - 350 Park Rd., Columbus - 270-677-2327
      - A visit to Columbus-Belmont, high above the Mississippi River, recalls the November 7,1861 Battle of Belmont and the fight to control this important waterway. Heavily fortified, Rebel General Leonidas Polk called Columbus the "Gibraltar of the West." But a Union General destined for the White House, Ulysses S. Grant, outflanked the "Gibraltar" and forced its evacuation. Today, you can still see the massive chain and anchor used by the South to block passage of the Union gunboats, and the earthen trenches dug to protect 19,000 Confederate troops. The small building that served as the Civil War hospital now houses Indian artifacts and Civil War relics. The Park features a spacious campground and Activity Center. Columbus-Belmont is 36 miles southwest of Paducah on KY 80
    • Jefferson Davis Monument - State Historic Site - Fairview - 270-886-1765
      - Jefferson Davis was elected President of the Confederate States of America on February 18, 1861, less than a month before Abraham Lincoln was inaugurated President of the Union, and two months before the outbreak of the Civil War, on April 12, 1861. Ironically, these two destined adversaries were born in Kentucky in log cabins within one year and 100 miles apart. A 351 foot obelisk marks the birthplace of Jefferson Davis, born on June 3, 1808.
    • John James Audubon State Park - Henderson - 270-826-2247
      - Relax in a cottage surrounded by the peaceful woods where the famed naturalist studied the subjects of his paintings during the years he lived in Henderson, from 1810-1819. The museum interprets Audubon's life through his original art and personal memorabilia, framed within an historic timeline of world events. The Nature Center featuresa wildlife observatory overlooking a garden of native plants. A giant bird's nest is the centerpiece of the Discovery Center.

Located on the western shore of Kentucky Lake, Kenlake offers a choice of quiet relaxation or active recreation. Take to the net in Kenlake's Indoor Tennis Center, a seasonal facility with temperature controlled courts, racquet rentals and a pro shop. Nature lovers can explore 200 miles of woodland trails at Land Between the Lakes.
    • Kentucky Dam Village - State Resort Park - Gilbertsville - Lodge 270-362-4271 - Marina 270-362-8386
      - Kentucky Dam Village is one of three resort parks on the wide waters surrounding land between the Lakes National Recreation Area; a 170,000 acre wooded peninsula bound by Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley. The abundance of water offers uncrowded cruising, water skiing, snorkeling and fishing. With its wide choice of accommodations, excellent marina, and fine dining, Kentucky Dam Village is one of Kentucky's most popular resorts. Relax in one of the secluded cottages or in the main lodge with private balconies or patios overlooking the northern tip of Kentucky Lake.
    • Lake Barkley State Resort Park - 3500 State Park Rd., Cadiz - 800-325-1708
      - The world class, Lake Barkley Lodge, designed by Edward Durrell Stone, is indigenous with the wooded shoreline that surrounds it. The grand scale, post and beam wood construction features three and one half acres of glass offering outstanding views of the lake. A heated, indoor pool adjacent to the fitness center makes this resort an appealing, year round retreat.
    • Lake Malone State Park - Dunmore - 270-657-2111
      - Spanning 788 lake acres, Lake Malone captures Kentucky's beauty in a small package. The lake is enclosed by magnificent 200 foot sandstone bluffs rising above the water's edge and surrounded by hardwood forests. The park has a campground, marina & beach.
    • Mineral Mound State Park - Gilbertsville - Lodge 270-362-4271 - Marina 270-362-8386
      - This peaceful setting on the shores of Lake Barkley is historically linked to the author F. Scott Fitzgerald. The property was once the farm of Willis B. Machen, grandfather of Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald. Today, the park has a picnic area, fishing pier and a boat ramp to launch an idyllic day on the lake.
    • Nolin Lake State Park - Bee Spring - 270-286-4240
